The talk was well received and presented some different ideas on evaluating the throwing athlete and designing an exercise program to correct Biomechanical Adaptation Patterns found in these athletes that can lead to pelvic and thoracic dysfunctions.  These abnormal patterns can lead to scapular dysfunction resulting in injury to the overhead athlete's shoulder and elbow. Biomechanical Adaptation Patterns is a term coined by Ron Hruska, PT founder of the Postural Restoration Institute in Lincoln, NE. The exercises are designed by Ron and have proven of great value to me when treating throwing injuries.&lt;br /&gt;While I have used this treatment approach successfully over the past 6 or 7 years while working with collegiate baseball players, I have also had success treating intercollegiate swimmers, tennis athletes, decathletes and adolescent baseball and softball players with shoulder/elbow pain.&lt;br /&gt;I recommend that you look at the PowerPoint that I downloaded today on this site and also recommend that you check out the Postural Restoration website (link located elsewhere on this page).
